A Form of Cognitive Therapy for Teens
DBT-A can be a useful program for teens having difficulties regulating emotions, impulsive behaviors, and other mental health challenges.
ElevaCare is certified by MN DHS to provide DBT-A.

The format for DBT-A includes: individual and group therapy sessions, as well as, family therapy sessions as needed. Clients involved in the program also receive broader access to their provider via phone coaching.
General concepts covered in DBT-A sessions include:
- Mindfulness
- Distress tolerance
- Emotion regulation
- Interpersonal effectiveness
- 'Walking the Middle Path'

An essential group of DBT-A that runs in 6-month periods. Teens and an adult caregiver learn the skills needed to:
- Improve relationships
- Manage emotions
- Understand feelings
- Make skillful decisions
- Reduce negative behaviors such as self-harm and substance abuse
- Effectively assist with managing caregiver/teen conflicts
